We Are the Terrorists Now

Benjamin Franklin once said,  "Those who are willing to give up freedom for security deserve neither."  The passage of the 2012 Defense Authorization Act clears the path for the Government to unleash the security Industrial complex on the citizens of the United States.   (See here.)  If you are deemed an enemy of the government,  you can now face INDEFINITE DETAINMENT, without trial, without criminal proof, without cause other than a bureaucratic decision that you are a threat - no more  due process, 14th amendment, the freedom of knowing you are Innocent until proven guilty.   (See here.)   - All gone  in the name of a little security.

As a former member of the US Army, a Gulf War veteran, I am stunned and outraged at this destruction of freedoms that I was told I was fighting for.  It breaks my heart beyond words to watch what is happening to my country and soon my countrymen.

For a decade, we've been told that we must point the guns outward; we must bring the fight to the enemy, and that enemy is terrorism.  We've living under non-stop  fear that the terrorists  are coming to get us, coming to take your security and freedom.  It's all a con game!

Between 1994 and 2004, the world has seen 6900 deaths because of terror attacks (See here),  a terrible truth for sure; but to put it into perspective, the planet currently sees upwards of  50,000 deaths DAILY, due to hunger. (See here.)   Over ten years of global "War on Terror," the end result is YOU are now the target of suspension. The path of fear has led to tyranny with Government being the purveyor of true terror and loss of freedom.  How far we have fallen in such a short time.

What aspect of your life is not affected by this so-called “war?”  We pay with our blood and our treasure around the world to prosecute this "war," and now at home  we will pay with our very freedom, guaranteed by the Constitution, the same Constitution that every single person who voted for this legislation swore to uphold and defend.  Franklin was correct.  We've allowed government to trade our freedom for safety.   We deserve and will get neither.
